The Challenge

Puratos needed to showcase the real impact of its Cacao-Trace programme in Côte d’Ivoire—an initiative focused on sustainable, organic cocoa production and improving livelihoods for local farmers.

The challenge was to communicate both the scale of the programme and the human stories behind it in a way that felt authentic, clear, and engaging.

Working alongside BBC StoryWorks, Cine-bolic produced a film that captured the programme from the ground up.

The Untold Stories of Women Living with Fistula

 

The Challenge

Obstetric fistula remains one of the most severe yet least understood childbirth injuries, leaving women physically affected and socially isolated. Despite its prevalence in regions with limited access to maternal healthcare, it is often surrounded by silence, stigma, and misinformation—resulting in the lived experiences of women being underreported and deeply misunderstood. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sought to create a film that would shine a light on this issue and bring visibility to the women living with fistula.

We developed a sensitive, story-led production approach focused on dignity, consent, and trust. Working closely with local partners and the United Nations Population Fund, we filmed on location in affected communities, prioritising safe environments for participants to share their experiences. Through intimate, guided interviews and observational storytelling, we aimed to centre women’s voices without intrusion, ensuring each story was told with authenticity and care.

A powerful series of human-centred films that amplify the voices of women living with fistula, bringing visibility to a deeply overlooked issue. The content supported awareness and advocacy efforts, helping UNFPA communicate the realities of the condition to global audiences with clarity, empathy, and impact.
